My Story

J Christopher Davenport, AIA
Principal Architect

A native Texan by birth, Chris Davenport spent the early part of his life in Iowa, a state born from agricultural roots and historically harsh winters.  Those familiar with the area understand the simple kindness and profound work ethic evolved from generations bonding together to fight the weather.   Chris approaches architecture with the same sincere desire to serve people.  His heartfelt belief is that a well designed residence should not only enhance a person or family’s quality of life, but should shine as a unique reflection of their story.  A home can and should be a special place of significance and memory.

It is the context of one’s own history and the site’s unique sense of place inspire Chris.  As such, his design process is one of informal discovery.  A minor in sociology evidences Chris’ passion to make unique explorations into the way the culture of a person / people should define a home’s form and function.

After earning his architecture degree from Iowa State University Chris moved back to his southern roots and established himself in Austin, Texas.  He has enjoyed an illustrious 26 year career in residential architecture and has been privileged to work on countless luxury homes.  His projects have received several awards and honors but Chris sees a happy client as the greatest reward of all.

When he is not designing homes Chris embraces his role as a son, husband, and father.  He often volunteers his time at Gateway Community Church and other organizations and enjoys volleyball, travel, and skiing.
